Navigating member relations

Here is the scenario

A member at your club is a jokester and loves to say things that get people going. Recently, he has been overheard being rude to other members and your service team. When confronted, he plays it off as a joke and acts like they are overreacting.  Your team says it is not a big deal, but now three different members have approached you about his actions.

  • What is your response to the members bringing this to your attention?
  • How do you determine if the members are just overreacting or if you really do have a problem that needs to be dealt with?
